Potty Training
Lets discuss kitten’s potty habits!
Stimulating
When a kitten is from 1 day-2 weeks of age, a kitten needs stimulated to go to the bathroom with a tissue or baby wipe. If the kitten had a mom, the mom would lick the kittens genitals to help them use the bathroom. By gently rubbing their genitals and rectum with a tissue or baby wipe, it mimics the moms tongue and the kitten goes to the bathroom.
First Litter Box
When a kitten uses their first litter box (at around 3 weeks of age) you should always use nonclumping litter since kittens explore with their mouths a lot, and you don’t want any clumps getting stuck in a kitten’s throat. Cats also have a natural instinct to want to cover their feces. Litter boxes often come naturally to cats.Start by stimulating them over the box, and they should slowly get used to the feel of the litter box. Once they are around 5-6 weeks, you can introduce them into clumping litter!
